A 26 year-old Airdrie woman is facing multiple charges in relation to two separate vehicle collisions that occurred just north of the Calgary city limits on Hallowe'en. Just before 11 pm., witnesses reported seeing a grey Dodge Charger traveling eastbound on Crossiron Drive, just east of Highway 2. Sheriff Jason Graw, of Airdrie's Integrated Traffic Unit, says the car then drove westbound on the same road, heading back toward the QE2. Graw says in an attempt to return to the highway, the vehicle careened down a steep embankment, crossed a gravel service road, and crashed through a couple of fences. The car then went over a steep precipice and came to rest in a creek about 45 feet below.

When emergency crews arrived the woman was found unhurt, still belted into the driver's seat and needed help to leave the vehicle. She's scheduled to appear in Airdrie Provincial Court on December 15.

Graw commented that "this incident serves as yet another reminder of why alcohol and driving do not mix. This collision was completely preventable, and this young lady is fortunate to have not sustained any injuries in this serious crash, and of course fortunate that she did not injure anyone else."
"Impaired driving is the leading criminal cause of death in Canada", Graw continued. "We would like to thank those witnesses that assisted us with our investigation, and encourage all motorists to report suspected impaired drivers to 911".
