Alberta Open Farm Days is happening this weekend all across the province.

Alberta Open Farms Days is an incubator for agri-tourism and rural sustainability. Through educational and hands-on agricultural-based projects, the event engages Albertans in a conversation about where their food comes from.

Holly Roy, a consultant with Alberta Farm Days is excited with how many farms are participating in the event.

"This year, there are 131 Farms participating across the province. It's incredibly diverse with everything from craft breweries, honey producers and some of the most traditional farms."

Roy mentioned if you plan on checking out a farm, you probably won't be coming back empty-handed.

"If people are heading out, we'd recommend taking a cooler. There's a lot of on-farm products that people can either sample or take home."

"It's just such a fantastic opportunity to go and meet the people who are creating all of the foods that are bountiful in our province. This is the perfect time of year of course with everything coming up to harvest and it's going to be a fantastic weekend for the weather as well. We encourage everybody that you head out to the country and meet their rural neighbours this year."
