If you are between the ages of 18 and 25 and have always wanted to be Miss Rodeo Airdrie, here is your chance.

Registration is now open for those who have been dreaming of being one of the many faces of the Airdrie Pro Rodeo and leaving their mark on the community.

Katie Van Hienen, Royalty Director for the Airdrie Pro Rodeo explained what will be expected of those wanting to represent Airdrie and the rodeo.

"You would be going to rodeos on the weekends and public events during the week. There's been a lot of girls who have been in school full time but have also made the royalty work just because of prioritization and multitasking."

Hienen, who was the Airdrie Pro Rodeo Princess back in 2016 talked about what she got out of winning the title.

"It helps you with getting jobs in the future. It helps with your networking, it helps with your confidence. I just know that I took so much out of that program alone with getting more confidence with public speaking and getting up in front of people and my horsemanship skills."

Last year, the Airdrie Pro Rodeo did not get enough applicants to run a program so 2022 Airdrie Pro Rodeo Princess Hannah Braun stepped up to retain the duties of Airdrie Royalty for 2023.

"She will be representing up until the end of May, going into July for our rodeo weekend as our outgoing royalty. Whoever wins the 2024 Miss Rodeo Airdrie will shadow Hannah for June."

The Airdrie Pro Rodeo will be running a weekend of completion for the applicants May 2-5 where the hopefuls will be judged on categories including written exam, personal interviews, public speaking, horsemanship, and modelling. The crowning ceremony and fashion show will take place on May 25.

"If there's a certain skill that you are uncomfortable with, the biggest thing is just reaching out to us, we have people and resources to help with the prep for the actual competition."
