27-year-old gymnast Rosie MacLennan will carry the Canadian flag in the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics.

MacLennan competes in trampoline gymnastics, and won Canada's only gold medal in the 2012 London Summer Olympics.

"She is just extremely passionate and hard working at her sport, and has always been that way, and she is a great role model for women, especially in sport," said Corissa Boychuk, former gymnast and Airdrie resident.

Boychuk competed along side MacLennan in the 2013 Canada Cup, and various other national events.

MacLennan will be the first trampolinist to bear the Canadian flag and this will be her third Olympics.

"If you watch any of the videos that she's in, she just does a really good job of representing our sport," said Boychuk.

MacLennan officially punched her ticket to Rio with a first-place performance at this year's Canada Cup.
