An Airdrie man has hit a home run while playing the lottery. Jacob Brown won $250,000 on the February 9 Lotto Max and Extra draw.

Brown's path to wealth started with a suggestion from his grandmother. After winning $500,000 on her own lottery ticket in British Columbia, she encouraged the family to purchase lottery tickets.

“I’ve bought five lottery tickets in my life,” he explained when he was claiming his winnings. “My Grandma recently won $500,000 on LOTTO MAX and told everyone to buy a ticket here and there.”

Upon learning about his win, Brown was flooded with both disbelief and joy. "I was thrilled and panicked," he expressed. "I called my mom and shared the news; she thought I said $250, so her response was, 'That's nice.' But it's actually very nice!"

Regarding his plans for his newfound wealth, Brown mentioned he intends to be smart and strategic with the money.

"I’m going to put some away for my future and keep a little bit for myself,” he said. “I don’t want the money to change me.”

Brown purchased his winning ticket for $6 at the Real Canadian Superstore in Airdrie.
