From September 14 to 18, the city of Airdrie is having a Recycle Depot Round-up where Airdronians can drop off electronics, paint and oil for a chance to win a draw.

The list of electronics that are allowed:

  • Small Appliances
  • Audio Visual
  • Telecom Devices
  • Power and Air Tools
  • Games, Toys and Music
  • Televisions
  • Computers and accessories
  • Printers and scanners
  • Cellphones

The list of household hazardous waste:

  • Paint and paint cans
  • Aerosols
  • Batteries
  • Used engine oil  - (MAX 20L) no drums or barrels
  • Oil filters
  • Antifreeze
  • Propane tanks, bear spray or canisters
  • Household chemicals (must be securely contained in a clearly labelled container; only household quantities will be accepted)

Other random materials include:

  • Light bulbs - No LED (LED are garbage)
  • Packaging Polystyrene Foam (no food related polystyrene foam)
  • Cooking oil
  • Textiles/clothing and shoes
  • Takeout drink lids (coffee cup and softdrink)
  • Books (take some, leave some)
  • Beverage containers

Of course, any of the usual recyclables like paper, cardboard, metal, glass and plastic is allowed.

The recycling depot is located at 21 East Lake Hill, open from 9 am to 5 pm.
