One of the city's capital projects is beginning this weekend on Saturday, June 1, which will mean that 24th Street will be closed to through traffic until this fall.

According to The City of Airdrie, 'construction of the 24th Street two lane un-divided roadway north of Reunion will begin in 2024. This project will support future development in the northwest area of the city, north of Reunion.'

The road closure will be in effect until October 1 and is necessary to facilitate the new paved roadway construction.

"Emergency Services has been notified of the closure and will adjust response routes accordingly."

However, this road closure isn't the only one that will last for several months. Beginning this July and lasting till September 20, a two-phase deep utility installation will also impact Flett Drive. The temporary road closure is meant to accommodate the construction in the area, and thus far the city has provided two tentative dates.
