For Cochrane Hockey player Jake Dube, the road to the Alberta Junior Hockey League has been an adventure.

That wild journey though has brought him from Calgary, to Okotoks, to the defending South Champion Camrose Kodiaks.

The brother of Kelowna Rockets player, Dillon Dube, Jake has enjoyed great success this season with the Kodiaks.

Dube explains that playing in the playoffs so far has been an unbelievable experience, "It's just that passion to win from all of us, and the guys really want to do it for me...it's been an exciting round, we've got three games on them now...hopefully we close out the series."

After sweeping the Olds Grizzlys in the first round, the Kodiaks have kept their winning ways against Dube's former team, the Okotoks Oilers.

The Cochranite reflects back on the time he was sent packing to Camrose.

"I took a step back, I didn't know what to think...I just fit in right away there. The coaching staff brought me in, they put me right into the thick of things right off the bat...and I just felt comfortable right from the moment I got there."

Dube says the experience of playing in a passionate market like Camrose is exactly what he's wanted for his hockey career.

So far in the playoffs Dube has scored 1 goal and 3 assists to add to the 35 points he tallied in the regular season.

While the ultimate prize this year is to hoist the Gas Drive Cup as League Champion, Dube says he's already excited for what the future holds as he enters his final year in the league.

"Even if I don't advance in the next level this year coming up that my development won't be hindered at all because Camrose has done such a good job for me this year, just imagine what I would be able to do this year as well."

Although his heart is on the ice in Camrose, Dube is grateful to represent his hometown of Cochrane.

"It's just an honour more than anything...make sure you go out there and play your hardest and represent Cochrane, just like you would your team."

Dube hopes to make Cochrane proud as the Kodiaks will look to clinch the series on Thursday night and move on to the South Division Finals.
