Earlier on Friday evening, Airdrie fire crews were on the scene of a two-vehicle collision on 1 Avenue and 8 Street.
Roads continue to be treacherous with the continued snowfall, which is expected to continue into the evening. Much of the QEII highway both North and South of Airdrie is in snow, slush and ice. There have also been reports of reduced visibility in some areas north of Airdrie due to blowing and drifting snow.
Earlier on Friday, over two dozen vehicles were involved in a collision East of Carstairs. One woman in her 80's was injured and taken to hospital.
Police are advising motorists to stay off the roads if travel is not necessary.
