Bruce McAllister, former morning anchor for Calgary's Global TV, announced on Friday , October 14, that he'll be running in the next Provincial election on behalf of the Wildrose Party in the new constituency of Chestermere / Rocky View. McAllister got the endorsement from the Party after Heather Davies, who held the position, stepped down for personal reasons.
McAllister outlined his reasons for running during a press conference in Chestermere:
MLA Rob Anderson, Wildrose Party Leader Danielle Smith and Heather Davies congratulate Bruce McAllister.
McAllister said he has long wanted to run for politics but hit a roadblock with his former employers:
MLA Rob Anderson, says he's pleased that Airdrie will be getting our own constituency since the existing Airdrie / Chestermere riding is the second most populous in the Province and it's difficult to focus his efforts.
A Provincial election has not yet been called, but all eyes are on new Premier Alison Redford to make an announcement soon.
