Airdrie firefighters will be remaining on the scene for several hours in the city's Southwest after a house fire erupted early Tuesday morning in the neighbourhood of Luxstone.

Earlier this morning, there were reports that an early morning house fire had erupted in the neighbourhood of Luxstone Rise.

An eyewitness reported that the house's occupants appeared to have safely made it out of the house and that fire crews remained on the scene.

According to the City's Fire Chief, Mike Pirie, both the Airdrie Fire Department, as well as Rocky View County Fire Services were on the scene.

The four occupants of the house were assessed by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for smoke inhalation.

Chief Pirie noted that due to water running down the streets, conditions are icy.
