At the latest Rocky View Schools (RVS) Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday, a presentation was brought forward on how an investment in professional learning and leadership development made by RVS is benefiting the staff.

Developing staff is a top objective in the RVS Strategic Plan. To better prepare people for their current and future responsibilities, this priority encourages them to develop their abilities. This improves team performance and student learning.

The Administrative Leadership Program (ALP) is designed for certified staff members who aspire to move into administrative roles. It covers ideas related to leadership. 69 people are enrolled in the program at different levels as of right now.

Through targeted capacity-building initiatives, school leaders can get additional chances to learn about management or instructional leadership.

Education Centre employees are encouraged to hone their leadership abilities through the Education Centre Leadership Development and Support Program. There are presently 22 participants in the program, which is in its second year.

The learning department offers teachers, support staff, and administrators a variety of additional opportunities for professional learning and growth. 1,620 staff members have taken part in the 66 offerings since the beginning of the school year.

In their exit surveys, staff members who participated in RVS' centrally planned professional learning opportunities rated the sessions as valuable 94 per cent of the time.

According to RVS, they are dedicated to devoting time and funds to the training and development of its employees.

Also at the latest meeting, RVS talked about how their 2023-2027 Education Plan is doing.
