High School football got underway in Rocky View over the weekend.

The Croxford Cavaliers got their first win of the season on Saturday (September 9) when they welcomed the Chestermere Cowboys to the Ed Eggerer Athletic Park. The Cavaliers were able to score 14 points and held the Cowboys to only four points to secure a ten point victory.

The Bert Church Chargers were supposed to kick off their season against the Bow Valley Bobcats on Friday (September 8), but that game was cancelled because of poor air quality due to smokey conditions.

Brian Utley, Interim Sports Coordinator with Rocky View Schools, said that the game has not been rescheduled yet as coaches for both teams need to find a time that works. That game should be rescheduled later this week.
