Airdrie Fire Chief Mike Pirie and the city of Airdrie took to social media the let Airdronians know that the city is now under a fire restriction advisory because of the current and forecasted hot weather.

Permitted:

  • Approved residential firepits/ wood campfires *
  • Natural gas, propane fire pits that are CSA approved or ULC certified
  • Natural gas, propane or electric stoves, barbecues, and smokers that are CSA approved or ULC certified.
  • Solid Fueled Barbeque appliances, where the primary source of fuel consists of charcoal, briquettes, or wood
  • Catalytic or infrared style heaters that are CSA approved or UL certified
  • Approved fires contained in industrial facilities or sites (energy, forestry or agricultural)

Under this advisory:

  • All existing fire permits are suspended.
  • No new fire permits will be issued until conditions improve.

Prohibited:

  • Any burning without a valid fire permit, other than a residential backyard fire pit, is prohibited.
  • Acceptable burning barrel for farm use only
  • Incinerator Fire
  • Consumer fireworks are prohibited at all times

While firepits/campfires are currently allowed, they may be restricted in the coming days if conditions warrant. The fire restriction will remain in effect until conditions improve.
