Airdrie and the surrounding area has experienced beautiful weather over the last two weeks, however, this week that is set to change.

Airdrie is expecting regular seasonal captures until Friday when an arctic weather pattern will swoop in and bring precipitation and below seasonal temperatures.

Brian Proctor, Meteorologist with Environment Canada says it's due to the air.

"We have some arctic air that will settle down in the province and cool us off Thursday with precipitation coming Friday, at this point in time it looks like the majority of the energy accompanied with the system will move more to the south of the Airdrie area but at this point in time we are looking to have a fairly nice first half of the week but Friday may have messy road conditions for the drive home."

We are expecting up to 10 cms of snow on Friday.

According to Proctor, we are going to see lower than seasonal average temperatures.

"Seasonal around this time of the year should be about seven degrees however later this week and next week we will fall below that."
