Back-to-work legislation for striking CP Rail workers is beign welcomed by much of the agriculture industry.

"The important thing is to get grain moving again, not to get into the issues between the two parties involved," says Jim Everson, Vice-President of with the Canola Council of Canada. "We work so much on a just-in-time delivery system for processors and we're moving a record amount of grain to port, so any delay is obviously not good for the farmer or the industry."

The Canola Council is urging MPs to pass the bill as quickly as possible.

Everson says delivery opportunities missed during the strike will not be made up.

"Over the short term, it really stops and delays our movement, and we won't get that back. Once we start again you're going to get back on the regular program and will simply have missed those deliveries," he says.

The Grain Growers of Canada, Western Grain Elevator Association and Canadian Meat Council are some of the other organizations also welcoming the legislation.
