At last week’s public board meeting, the Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD) Board of Trustees approved the 2022-2023 audited financial statements.

The statement reflects a deficit of $0.5 million.

Compared to the projected $13.5 million shortfall, the district's year-end financial figures are better. This is primarily due to additional provincial funding received during the year, more investment income due to higher interest rates and higher revenues overall.

“We are pleased with the district’s efficient utilization of resources, especially during a time of inflationary pressure,” said Board Chair Shannon Cook. “On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I thank our Chief Superintendent Dr. Bryan Szumlas and our senior administrators for their ongoing commitment to utilize district dollars effectively to support students’ wellness and successes.”

The Calgary Catholic School District has four schools within Airdrie, those include:

  • Our Lady Queen of Peace School

  • Good Shepherd School

  • St. Veronica School

  • St. Martin de Porres High School

The CCSD saw an increase in total revenue of $638.0 million over 2021–2022, or 4.2 per cent, mostly as a result of enrollment growth and the restoration of pre–pandemic levels of school-based activities.

In 2021-2022, The district's total expenses came to $638.5 million, up $27.3 million (4.5 per cent) from the year before. This rise was mostly brought on by greater staffing costs, more funding for students' various learning needs, and increased spending associated with enrollment growth.
