Most recording artists pine for the chance to play once during the Calgary Stampede.

Airdrie's Paul Brandt will be playing all ten days the Calgary Stampede announced Wednesday. It's a homecoming of sorts for Brandt who won the Youth Talent Showdown, now known as the Calgary Stampede Talent Search.

"Driving past the Archie Boyes Theatre where I got that trophy twenty years ago, I got butterflies unexpectedly, all over again," recalled Brandt. "I would imagine that opening night I'm going to have some of those same feelings being there on the Grandstand Show. It's going to be a lot of adrenaline and a lot of excitement.

Brandt, who helped kick off last year's Airdrie Air Show with the Canadian National Anthem, will share the stage with The Young Canadians in a show called "Century", celebrating 100 years of the Calgary Stampede.

“When I heard that Paul Brandt agreed to celebrate our Centennial by performing in our Grandstand show, I was over the top with excitement,” says Mike Casey, president and chairman of the board, Calgary Stampede. “He has accomplished so much since he won our Calgary Stampede Talent Search and now he is coming back for our biggest show ever!”
