Airdrie's newest hockey team is getting closer to building a team to compete for the regular season.

The Airdrie CFR Chemicals Bisons began their main camp yesterday (September 4th) and head coach Dan Gendur explained what they're looking for.

"With all the players, they've been putting in a great effort. We built the camp so it's going to be extremely hard and demanding and the kids are responding."

Gendur, who is in his first year coaching a AAA Midget team, said it's been a fun but challenging experience for his coaching staff.

"We've put in a lot of time and effort into making this camp extremely professional, kinda running like a junior camp. It's all about preparing these kids for that next level and it starts from day one."

The camp began with 61 players and will wind down to a roster of 40 by the end of the week. Those 40 players will suit up for the Red and White game on September 10th at Ron Ebessen Arena.
