The Bikes & Bulls charity event is headed back to the Airdrie Rodeo Grounds on August 24 and 25. This unique event, in only its second year, is put on by the Airdrie Oilmen's Association (AOA).

The AOA has been around for 10 years. They've held a variety of fundraising events, raising approximately $43,000 for local chairities. Ian cameron, association president, says the idea for Bikes and Bulls grew out of those early fundraising events.

They were able to donate $7000 to four local charities after last year's inaugural event and Cameron is confident they will grow the event and the profit this year. Proceeds will go to the Wild Rose Humane Society, STARS Air Ambulance, Airdrie & District Victim Assistance Society, the Airdrie Food Bank, and Community Links.

A Motorbike Poker Rally kicks things off this year, beginning at 3 pm on Friday, August 24. Close to 60 motorcycles turned up last year; Cameron says they are expecting close to 100 this year.

The Rally is followed by a Beer Tent and a concert by local entertainers and AC/DC tribute band, Who Made Who.

On Saturday, August 25, motorcycle enthusiasts will have a chance to show off their bikes at a Show 'n Shine, starting at 12 noon. That's followed by a bike rodeo at 2 pm and a CPRA sanctioned bull riding event starting at 7:30 pm. Recording artist, Gord Bamford finishes off the evening with a concert starting around 9:30 pm.

Bikes and Bulls takes place at the Airdrie Rodeo Ground and there will be free camping on site for those who want to make a full weekend of it. Tickets are available in advance online at www.bikesbulls.aoaalberta.com/
