Registration for the 2016/2017 Airdrie minor hockey season closes Monday, August 15th.

With that in mind, players are taking the rest of August to get back on the ice through summer camps.

"Typically in evaluations you can really see a difference between those athletes that were practicing over the summer, and those athletes that took the whole summer off and haven't played any hockey since February." said Jason Pisarczyk, Executive for Programs, AMHA.

Pisarczyk is also president of Maximum Performance Hockey (MPH), which not only offers players hockey camps, but also features batting cages, to ensure they become well rounded athletes.

As the game evolves, experts say that the game is about more than just speed and size, it is becoming more and more about quick thinking and execution.

Many camps are already underway or finished, although registration is still open for camps that run throughout August.

Both Edge Hockey School and Explosive Edge have camps with registration currently open.
