Floating lanterns at last year's ARTember closing celebrations.

Local artists will have five different ways to show their work during this year's ARTember festival.

Local businesses will be providing exhibition space for ARTtour. Artists can apply to display their work and will be matched up with businesses who are offering the space for free. Visitors will be able to fill in a ballot to vote for the "People's Choice" award from among all the artists and all the venues. One ballot will be drawn from those submitted and the winner will receive a $300 gift certificate to spend on artwork by the winning artist.

Artists are also invited to demonstrate their art in a variety of businesses throughout ARTember. It's a great way to show a technique while also showing off your work.

This year's Art Show & Sale will take place on September 14 and 15. And this year there's a Western theme! ARTS Round-up will take place at Cam Clark's new location, known as the Township of Dry Gulch. The Show & Sale will kick off on Friday, September 14 with a launch party featuring a silent auction, dance hall girls, a draw for an iPad and even a Jail and Bail. The fun continues on Saturday with lots of activities.

Last year's closing ceremonies at Coopers Crossing were so successful, that this year organizers have decided to put on a Twilight Carnival on September 15. This outdoor event will feature a night market, live music, a presentation by the Nose Creek Players, a floating lantern launch, a fireworks display over the water, and much more. Artists can register to display their work at this unique venue.

ARTember will culminate with the Arts and Culture Days Celebration at Nose Creek Park from September 28 to 30. Last year, the celebration at Nose Creek attracted about 4000 visitors. Again this year, there will be children's activities, food vendors and hands-on demonstrations, along side displays by local artists.

Full details, including information about how to register for each of these events, are included in a registration package. You can also get more information by contacting ARTember through their website, www.artember.ca.

ARTember, a city-wide celebration of the arts, runs from September 14 thru 30 this year. Last year's inaugural ARTember celebrations were very successful.
