According to the Alberta RCMP, after a Judicial Interim Hearing, and two subsequent court appearances, Christopher Stack has been remanded and will be appearing in the Alberta Court of Justice in Calgary on May 27.

In early April, the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit (MCU) was called in to investigate after human remains were discovered when emergency crews responded to a grassfire.

According to Mounties, the Tsuut’ina Nation Fire Department responded to the grass fire near Range Road 40 and Township Road 241 (southwest of Airdrie) at 5:30 when they discovered the remains.

"Cochrane RCMP and the Tsuut’ina Nation Police Service both attended the location. The Alberta RCMP Major Crime Unit was subsequently notified and deployed to take carriage of the investigation," police previously stated.

Police previously said they were treating the discovery of the remains as a homicide and continue to do so. Several days later, police identified the victim as Schuiling, and in consultation with the man's family, the MCU released a photograph of him.
