A 29-year-old resident of Olds is one of several individuals who were arrested by Mounties as part of a several-month-long drug trafficking investigation.

Garnet Marcellus has been charged with trafficking cocaine, as well as possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000.

According to Whitecourt RCMP, police arrested four other individuals from the Whitecourt area for drug trafficking and other criminal offences.

"Over a several-month investigation Whitecourt RCMP, Grande Prairie ALERT, Edson RCMP GIS, and RCMP’s Western Alberta District GIS gathered evidence and executed search warrants in the Town of Whitecourt and Woodlands County," police stated in a press release.

Over $27,000 in cash, 463 grams of cocaine, and 43.5 grams of ketamine were recovered and seized. 

The other individuals who were arrested include 34-year-old Jesse Jackson (34), a resident of Woodlands County, Alberta. Jackson was charged with two counts of Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 as well as Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000.

24-year-old Mariah Jackson a resident of Woodlands County, was charged with Trafficking cocaine and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000. While, 62-year-old Debra Letcher a resident of Whitecourt, was charged with three counts of Trafficking cocaine, Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking Possession of ketamine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000, and three counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000.

30-year-old Jeri Jackson a resident of Whitecourt was charged with five counts of Trafficking cocaine, Possession of cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of ketamine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000, and five counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000.

Police added that since matters in this investigation are now before the courts, no further updates are available at this time.
