Rocky View Schools announced early Monday morning that all schools across the division will be open for classes today.

"Due to the cold weather and bus availability challenges, all buses are cancelled all day. Any field trips must be rescheduled," RVS stated. "As always, parents/guardians can make their own decisions about sending their students to school. Please be assured that RVS schools are open to provide a safe and secure learning environment for students who are attending. If a student will not be attending school today, parents/guardians are asked to inform their school."

RVS also added that School Messenger is down and RVS is unable to send emails to parents/guardians.

The Calgary Catholic School District (CSSD) announced that while all CCSD schools in Calgary remain open, buses serving CCSD schools in Airdrie, Chestermere and Cochrane are cancelled.

"Please dress warmly, stay safe and make alternate transportation arrangements. Routes in Calgary, including yellow school bus service and specialized diverse learner transportation, are running but may experience delays," CSSD stated on its website.

The Chinook Edge School Division announced that Monday is a 'red day', meaning that all Chinook’s Edge schools and offices are closed today. Parents and students are asked to check Google Classroom or email for alternate learning activities as the day progresses.

Airdrie and the surrounding areas remain under an extreme cold warning.
