Hayley D'Onofrio is hoping Aidronians will donate and help her mom.

Lynn D'Onofrio is 37 years old and was diagnosed just before Christmas with terminal cancer; stage 4 metastatic cervical cancer, which means cancer has spread outside of the pelvis. Usually, meaning she has an average of 3-5 years with the most common treatment.

Hayley is one of her three kids aged 19, Brayden 17 and Kayla 15 with her husband Jason D'Onofrio. Lynn is not just a mom, she's a wife, cousin, aunt and best friend, who loves baking, cooking and has a slight obsession with cleaning. Right now her future and recovery remain unclear but her family is hoping to up the odds in her favour.

"She's super positive, she's trying super hard, she wants to fight for her kids, she wants to fight for her husband," said Hayley.

When D'Onofrio was given her diagnosis the treatment option was radiation and chemo, which the prognosis gives her a 5% survival rate. There is another option using a targeted treatment specifically designed for her DNA but it's not available as an option for her in Canada, so she would have to get the treatment across the border in the U.S.

Unfortunately, this option while giving her a prognosis of closer to 70% survival rate, is an option they can't afford. The pandemic has really hurt their finances, Lynn was running a day home but had to take a break because it was too much for her to handle with the radiation treatments.

Her husband lost his job because of the pandemic, which included losing their medical insurance. He has since taken over running the day home in order to have at least one source of income but this leaves little for extras and is not nearly enough for a trip to the U.S. where they would have to cover flights, hotels, gas, parking a vehicle and the treatment.

"We really need to get down there so that she can get the treatments she needs to see both of her kid's graduate, I have already graduated so she has one down but two more to go," said Hayley.
