Doctor André Corriveau, Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Health, took the spotlight Tuesday afternoon to update Albertans on the current COVID-19 situation. Hinshaw did not participate in the update as she's currently taking time off.

Cases have steadily declined across the province in the past few weeks, going from the peak of over 25,000 active cases in mid-May to just under 3,000 active cases as of June 15. There are 2,804 active cases in Alberta right now, which is the lowest number of active cases in Alberta since October 15, 2020.

There are 271 Albertans in the hospital due to COVID-19 right now with 68 in intensive care.

To date, approximately 3.4 million vaccinations have been administered. According to Corriveau, over 46,000 vaccinations were administered yesterday alone. Currently, 69% of Albertans have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 22% are fully vaccinated with both doses.

"If you have concerns over safety regarding the vaccine, please seek out credible sources. A health care professional you trust or a loved one who's already received the vaccine; ask them questions," says Corriveau "We are incredibly fortunate to have vaccines that are as effective as they have been."

In Airdrie, there are 38 active cases of COVID-19, a drop from yesterday's 45 active cases.

Rocky View County active cases remain at 19.
