Albertans will soon have an easier time finding Airdrie's Urgent care facility thanks to new, urgent care road signs.

These road signs will feature a white medical cross on a green background and hours of operation, when applicable. Road signs with a white H on a blue or green background will continue to signify a nearby hospital.

Considered the step between the physician's office and the emergency department, urgent care facilities treat unexpected but non-life-threatening conditions needing same-day attention. All urgent care sites are open 365 days a year and, although hours of operation may vary, they all provide some after-hours service.

The new signs, giving motorists directions to the Airdrie Regional Health Centre, should be in place by the end of the year.
