On Saturday, September 10 starting at 7 a.m. till 5:30 p.m., a portion of Main Street will be closed (between the Main Street intersection near TD and just south of ATB Financial) to host the airdrieFEST street festival outside of City Hall.

Residents who wish to pay their respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be welcome to do so by leaving a message in the condolence book located in the City Hall Atrium, or by placing flowers or tributes near the flagpoles outside City Hall.

According to the city, the Alberta Health Services (AHS) Urgent Care Centre at 604 Main St. SE, can be accessed from Albert St. SE via Centre Av E, for vehicles travelling south on Main Street. Vehicles travelling north on Main Street can access the Urgent Care Centre as usual.

"The event will be opened with speeches and a small ceremony at 11 a.m. on the main stage. The annual street festival will feature about 170 vendors including not-for-profit organizations, services, and local businesses."

For the first time, airdrieFEST 2022 will host an artisan market where local makers and creators will showcase their talents and products. Attendees will enjoy live entertainment throughout the day as well as food trucks, and children’s activities.

Towerlane Centre will also be closed for vehicle parking and only open to foot traffic for the fun zone.

Residents can view the planned road closure as well as marked detours on the airdrieFEST 2022 here.
