After beating the Calgary Bison in round three of the 2022 playoffs The AAA U-15 Airdrie Extreme has locked a spot in the 2022 Provincial Championships.

The Xtreme beat the Calgary Bison in three games, winning the final game in Airdrie by a score of 7-3, They are joined by the St. Albert Gregg Distributors Sabres, Sherwood Park United Cycle Flyers, Okotoks Oilers and the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers.

Xtreme Head Coach, Tyson Soloski was super excited to get the big game three win.

“Round three was really exciting, there's were some ups and downs, we won game one and played really well. Game two, they played really well and they took it to us in their rink. Then we came back and played extremely well in game three and definitely deserved to win. It was a good feeling to see the boys come out hard and be able to pull it off after all the hard work this year.”

Soloski goes on to talk about what the Championship looks like this year.

“It's kind of a tournament format, where just the top two teams play for the provincial championships. you got to play four round-robin games and our goal would be to come in and win all four to make that gold medal game on Sunday, which is going to be a really tough task because you got to play four games in three days against high level of competition.

Soloski finished off by saying the biggest thing for the Xtreme is going to be in the right mental mindset and be consistent throughout the entire weekend. He feels like this team can do just that.

The Xtreme open up the Provincial Championships against the Okotoks Oilers on Thursday.
