If you've ever lost something precious then you'll know exactly how Donna Blaskovits is feeling.

The Airdrie woman is desperately hoping that someone will find a precious ring belonging to her mother that she lost in the city on Wednesday (April 29).

"It was a ring that was purchased by my dad," Donna explains.  "He passed away just last July at 96 years old and he had purchased it for my mom when they went on a trip to Europe.  They would have been married for 70 years on May 7th but he, unfortunately, passed away in July.  I had it at the Scotiabank parking lot in Sierra Springs and it accidentally out of my car and I lost it and I feel terrible."

Donna's mother is 86, in good health, and is now a resident of the Crossfield Lodge.  Being a resident of a senior's facility has been difficult during the COVID-19 pandemic but Donna says they've tried to make the best of it.

"I try to visit her once a week at the window.  Her suite is near the entrance to the Crossfield Lodge and we talk through the window once a week.  I go see her there and we have a good cry.  I miss her like crazy."

Donna says her mom and dad came from the Peace River Country where they farmed for many years before retiring to Kelowna and living in the Okanagan for 35 years.  They moved to Airdrie and lived in the Woodside area and resided in what Donna calls "a great community."

"Just in the last couple of years my mom and dad moved to the lodge in Crossfield.  They had a great marriage.  Three kids and lots of grandkids and great-grandkids. My dad was a fiddler and my mom supported all the entertainment that he did.  He played at every birthday party and every wedding and anniversary, and she danced," Donna laughs prior to growing just a bit melancholy.

"It's been difficult at the lodge because, even there, she took care of him, so its been really lonely, especially with this virus.  The family can't see her and we just talk through the window on the cell phone.  Yeah, its been really difficult for her."

The lost ring has a unique European design, with a cluster of diamonds and is 14K gold.  "It's a very unusual European ring.  I would really love to have it back.  I feel so bad that it's lost."

The ring went missing at the Scotiabank parking lot, located at 2813 Main Street SW in Airdrie.  If you find it you're asked to call Donna Blaskovits at 403 874-9833.
