The Airdrie Xtreme had a good start to the John Reid Memorial Tournament yesterday (January 18th) in a game that had fans and family on the edge of their seats.

Airdrie played the Northern Alberta Xtreme in their first game of the tournament being held in St. Albert.

Both teams fought back and forth, with Airdrie netting the first goal from Ty Mueller before Northern Alberta tied it up before the end of the first.

Following an Airdrie penalty in the third period, Northern Alberta took advantage with a goal to give them a 2-1 lead.

But it didn't take long before Airdrie would bounce back as Ty Mueller got the tying goal minutes later.

The final score was 2-2 for the battle of the Xtremes with Mueller named the player of the game.

Airdrie continues their run in the John Reid Tournament this morning (January 19th) when they play the Sherwood Park Flyers at 11:45.
