In a press release, the Board of Directors of the Airdrie Regional ARTS Society announced that it will be shutting down.

"ARTS had purchased a Gallery Hanging system that was placed in Bert Church Theatre with the purpose to display local artists’ creations.  ARTS administered this program and several local artists displayed their art creations over the years.  ARTS is now going to donate this Gallery Hanging System to Bert Church Theatre in hopes that it will continue to exclusively display local artists on its walls."

The statement added that while they have disposed of all of their assets, they will donate all funds from the sale of those assets, a total of $5,066.51, to the Airdrie Food Bank.

"Even though ARTS has stopped its operation, we know that the art community will continue to grow and thrive moving forward.  There are many talented up-and-coming artists in the Airdrie Community that may always be followed through various social media platforms. As the Board says its final goodbye, we all hope that like the Phoenix, an Arts Association will once again be established for the betterment of all."

ARTS was originally established to create a fellowship of Airdrie and area artists, to share their ideas, talents and friendships and to help grow the artistic community of Airdrie. Over the past years, it has become increasingly difficult through very trying world situations, to foster an artistic community to grow and thrive.
