A shelter-in-place was lifted by Airdrie RCMP early on Saturday morning after mounties responded to a firearms incident in Balzac.

One man had been safely taken into custody following the incident.

"The threat to the community was contained to one residence.  No injuries were reported," police reported.

At approximately 3:22 a.m. police issued the shelter-in-place as they were responding to the area of Butte Valley Estates, near Township Road 292 and north of Highway 506.

RCMP asked residents to refrain from posting the whereabouts of police on social media as they conducted their investigation.

By 5 a.m., Mounties rescinded the shelter-in-place.
