With the season underway, the Airdrie Raiders of the Calgary Bantam Football Association are looking to build off of last season.

To start out this season the Raiders had their hands full as their first game was against the Calgary Cowboys.

"It [the season] started off a little bumpy. The game against the Cowboys was a one-score game which we lost. I don't think we played our best as we were working through some things," stated the Raiders Head Coach Steve Kemp.

Just like how last season ended in the City Finals (in which they lost 15-13), the Cowboys got the best of the Raiders winning 16-8.

In their next two games, the Raiders showed they are still a strong team in the league

"We've scored 121 points and gave up zero."

Their second game of the season was against Calgary Rebels which they won 61-0. This previous Saturday they shut out the Calgary Mavericks 60-0.

"What we learned after that first loss was the attention to detail. The guys refocused and we've been playing very well ever since."

This weekend's game (Saturday, 1 p.m. at Shouldice Artificial Turf Hellard) will be against the 1-2 Calgary Lions.

"We're still learning the game, we're still making little mistakes. I'm hoping that we really focus on those details, keep improving and peak in the playoffs."
