The Airdrie Mohawks are Senior C champions in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League (RMLL).

Heading into the playoffs, the 'Hawks held first place with an undefeated record, which they would carry on into the championship game.

"I think there is a few factors involved, we had some guys come down from Sr. B that probably could still be playing Sr. B, but some of them got married and some of them had kids and just couldn't commit to the Sr. B schedule playing and practice wise." said Gareth Barely, Mohawks Assistant Coach.

The Silverbacks were without a doubt the Mohawks' greatest challenge of the season having won the championship 4 of the last 5 years.

"I'm taking nothing away from them, they're a competitive team and we kind of expect the same out of them next year." said Barley.

An quick start saw the Mohawks take an early 8-3 lead, but the endurance of the younger Silverbacks saw them battle back late in the game.

Despite their best efforts, the Silverbacks would not complete their comeback, leaving the Mohawks victorious.

Tyler Weber finished the regular season at the top of the team with 53 points in 12 games played. He was followed by Garrett Werschke who put up an impressive 22 goals in 9 games, for a total of 40 points.

The Mohawks will enjoy the off-season, and hope to bring in some more Sr. B veterans to fill any freed up roster spots for next season.
