A 35-year-old Airdrie man has been arrested after he and another man fled a traffic stop and rammed a police vehicle in the process.

According to the police, on December 30, 2022, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers from Okotoks RCMP were conducting patrols in the 200 block of Southridge Drive in Okotoks, when they located a stolen pickup truck with two occupants. Police attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, however, the driver of the pickup truck drove into the front end of the police vehicle and fled the area.

Later that night, the stolen vehicle was observed entering the City of Calgary and stopping on Silverado Bank Circle, where the occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, entering a residence.  

"Joint efforts with Calgary Police Service, Calgary Police Dog Service and RCMP, resulted in the recovery of the stolen vehicle. The two suspects were located, arrested and taken into custody. Upon arrest, the suspects were found in possession of multiple stolen items," a police press release stated.

Chadwick Devaux, a resident of Airdrie was found to have multiple outstanding arrest warrants and has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.00, failing to comply with a release order, as well as resisting arrest by a Peace Officer.

He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Okotoks Provincial Court on January 12, 2023.

37-year-old Zoulton Bonin, a resident of Calgary, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00. He was released to appear in Okotoks Provincial Court on February 3, 2023.

As a result of the suspects ramming the police vehicle, no injuries were sustained by the police officer.
