On April 27, Statistics Canada released its latest round of data from the 2021 Census, showing the average age in Airdrie is 34.8 years old. 

According to the Census, as of 2021, Airdrie’s population was 74,100 compared to 70,564 the previous year. Comparing Airdrie’s population in 2016 to 2021, the city has seen a population increase of 20.3 per cent. 

When it comes to Rocky View County and surrounding communities, it's been a mix of increases and decreases since 2016: 

Rocky View County – Population of 41,028, a 4.1 per cent increase. 

Carstairs - Population of 4,898 in 2021, a 20.1 per cent increase. 

Crossfield – Population of 5,599 in 2021, a 20.7 per cent increase. 

Didsbury – Population of 5,070 in 2021, a 3.8 per cent decrease. 

Irricana – Population of 1,179 in 2021, a 3 per cent decrease 

Beiseker – Population of 1,179 in 2021, a 7.9 per cent decrease. 

 

The average age for the other municipalities is as follows: 

 

Rocky View County – 42.4 years 

Carstairs – 39.5 years  

Crossfield – 38.1 year 

Didsbury – 44.1 years 

Irricana – 40 years 

Beiseker – 41 years  

 

The population density per square kilometre in Airdrie is 878.1. 

The average age in Canada is 41.9 years young, with the average age in Alberta being 38.4 years young.
