Airdronian Aaron Sluchinski and his team out of the Airdrie Curling Club had the experience of a lifetime participating in the 2024 Montana's Brier. They finished the tournament with a 4-4 record just missing the playoffs.

Sluchinski, the skip of the team has Jeremy Harty as the third, Kerr Drummond as the second and Dylan Webster as the lead.

"It was a lot of fun for us to experience many things that we haven't before like the big crowds and lots of TV exposure. I wish we could have done a little better on the ice, but it seemed like all the teams were ready to give it their all."

When asked about what his favourite game of the Brier was, Sluchinski stated it was the opening night featured game against Kevin Koe which they won.

"Lots of butterflies, it was a pretty cool experience to step out there and play our first game together on the Brier ice."

When not playing on the ice, there wasn't much downtime either as there was always something to do like signing autographs or talking to the media stated Sluchinski.

"It just seems like you're always going and doing something. It was interesting but lots of fun as well."

As a team, their season is officially over, they will take some time to reflect on the season before deciding what what will happen next curling season.

"We put this team together two years ago and we've taken pretty big strides each year. I think if we can keep working in that direction, we can hopefully become an elite team in curling."

This season, Team Sluchsinki was a top-ranked team in the world participating in multiple Grand Slam Curling events and also the 2023 PointsBet Invitational.

Up next for Sluchisnki and his curling season is the 2024 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship with his wife Amanda.
