The City of Airdrie has made the list as one of the most affordable cities in Alberta to live in.

All the cities in Alberta were ranked to see which ones were the least expensive to reside in thanks to a poll done by real estate database Zolo.

Out of 27 cities that are ranked, Airdrie is listed as 14th. The average household income, the cost of living, and property values were all taken into consideration in the study.

Right before Airdrie, sitting in 13th place is Camrose, and right after in 15th place,  is Grande Prairie. Stony Plain, Leduc, and Fort Saskatchewan rounded out the top three.

Other cities in Rocky View County, like Chestermere, were ranked 23rd on the list.

When it comes to Airdrie-specific stats, according to Zolo, the average price for a house is $502,900, and the average household income is $122,700. The home price-to-income ratio is 4.10 and the unemployment rate is 6.6 per cent.

According to the study, Wetaskiwin has the lowest prices when it comes to houses, with the average price being around $216,250 as of June 2023.

When it came to the most affordable large cities in Alberta, our neighbours to the south, Calgary did not crack the top three; as Edmonton, Lethbridge and Red Deer took those spots.
