Airdrie City Council isn't letting a little thing like the federal election stop them from getting their work done.

Council's second meeting of the month of October goes today (October 21) at 3:30 pm in Council Chambers at Airdrie City Hall and they face a full agenda.

Included today is a request for council to proclaim November 2019 as Family Violence Prevention Month in the city and illuminate City Hall in purple on November 4th to bring awareness to the issue and honour those who have been impacted by family violence.

Archie Lang, Airdrie's Manager of Parks, Roads and Water Services will provide council with information regarding the installation of a Pride crosswalk in the city.

Since this week is Small Business Week in Canada, council will also receive an update from Economic Development Officer Sara Chamberlain on the implementation of Airdrie's Economic Development Strategy, 2018-2026.

Council will also receive an update from Team Leader of Community Development Michael Dougherty on preparations for hosting the 2020 Alberta Winter Games in February 2020 in Airdrie.

Since cannabis has now been legal in Canada for over a year, Team Leader for Legislative Services Kari Kitiuk will provide council with information on how the Cannabis Pilot Consumption Site has been embraced in the city.
