In the ongoing game of leap-frog between the Airdrie Thunder and Red Deer Vipers, the Thunder are once again ahead.

Airdrie scored twice in the third period to break open a 1 - 1 tie and go on to a 3 - 1 win over the Okotoks Bisons last night (December 1) at the Ron Ebbesen Arena.

Rylan Plante-Crough led the way with a pair of goals for the Thunder while Benjamin Orde had the other.

The win puts Airdrie back into first place in the Northern Division with 28 points while the Vipers have 27 and three games in hand.

They'll play one of those games tonight when they host the Cochrane Generals.

Cochrane is fourth in the Southern Division but just six points out of first.

Tomorrow afternoon at 5:30 pm, the Thunder travel to Medicine Hat to face the Cubs.  At 3:00 pm, the Generals play in Ponoka.
