The Airdrie 1st Club's Valentine's Day fundraiser is back in action this year.

This is the third annual Valentine's Day fundraiser. They sell flowers and treats for seniors at three Airdrie locations, according to Helen Gitzel, Treasurer of the Airdrie 1st Club.

"It all started at the tail end of COVID. We wanted to make seniors know that they're still loved even though the community can't come to see them."

Airdronians are able to purchase different options of roses and chocolates.

According to Gitzel, the goal is to make sure they have enough Valentine's Day gifts for all the seniors living in the Luxtstone Senior Living, Bethany Airdrie and Airdrie Care Community.

"We're thinking that our number will need to be around 300 orders so every senior gets a gift."

Gitzel talked about how something simple as a Valentine's Day gift could make the day of the seniors.

"Two years ago, I was delivering to Bethany Airdrie and there was a lady there and we were trying to get a picture and she was just so enthralled with the gift that she wouldn't look at the camera she was so happy."

You are able to either make personal Valentine's orders or secret admirer Valentine's orders.

All the proceeds for this fundraiser go towards paying for all the events the Airdrie 1st Club hosts like this one and their Christmas Hamper Program.
