The Air Cadets have spoken and three of them walked away with the accolades from the Airdrie Air Cadets recent Effective Speaking Competition.

The squadron-wide competition was open to all Cadets. They were required to present a five minute prepared speech and had a number of topics to choose from, including:

  • An Ordinary Canadian Doing Extraordinary Things;
  • 150th Anniversary of the Charlottetown's Conference;
  • Chris Hadfield, Space Explorer;
  • Bullying;
  • Snowbirds, a Canadian Icon;
  • Women in Military Services;
  • Why I Remember November 11th?; and
  • Skills I have Learned in Cadets That Will Help me in Life.

The competitors then were given three minutes to prepare a two minute speech on an impromptu topic.

Sgt. T. Giannelia took first place in the competition, with Sgt. R. Curtis coming in second and Sgt. C. Miller coming in third. All three will represent the Airdrie squadron at the Central Wing Effective Speaking Competition, March 15.
