We've only just got into the full swing of Fall but you're familiar with how unpredictable and unforgiving mother nature can be, especially in Alberta. You've seen the mood swing-like weather - sunshine one minute, rain the next and so on. You've seen the hail storms, tornadoes, and windstorms. You've even seen snowfall during summer (ex. August 2015). The forecast this week called for snow and snow came, so it's not a bad idea to start preparing for winter, just in case it gets worse:

1. Winter tires. Find yourself a good quality set of winter tires earlier rather than later. You can often find better deals in the off-season.

2. Update your wardrobe. It's really important to stock up on proper winter attire - clothes, shoes, and jackets. A few years ago, I woke up one early October morning to half a foot of snow. I went to work that day in a fall jacket and a pair of Toms. It was not a good day - don't make the same mistake as me and be prepared!

3. Winter-proof your home. Maybe it's time to seal that poorly insulated window. Slowly start bringing in your outdoor plants and organize an area for them where they will spend the next several months. Bring in the outdoor furniture and take down the trampoline. It's better to get a head start on the small stuff rather than rushing everything in a last-minute panic.

I know it's only September, but you never know what's around the corner when it comes to the Alberta climate.
