Don't let this week's precipitation and cold temperatures fool you, we may have a warmer and drier winter than usual according to Environment Canada.

Dan Kulak Meteorologist with Environment Canada says this weeks weather will be cooler than we are used too.

"It does look like winter has finally arrived for Airdrie, we have seen snow in the area and temperatures over the next seven days will be below seasonal average with daytime highs around the plus two average."

Kulak also says that October was just as cold as you thought it was.

" We had the 29th coldest October on record over 135 years and the 25th wettest October in the last 135 years, so are coming out of a cool and wet October moving into November."

All hope is not lost as Meteorologist and Environment Canada are expecting an El Nino winter, meaning dryer and warmer temperatures than usual for western Canada.

"The El Nino you have been hearing about is still expected to occur, there is a 70% chance of it occurring. The El Nino is an ocean effect in the tropical Pacific that affects weather patterns around the world and for western Canada, it generally brings warmer and drier weather patterns."
