A small, but enthusiastic group of walkers turned out for today's (February 19) first ever "Walk A Mile In His Boots" march to bring awareness to father's rights.

Becky Kundert organized the walk to bring awareness to what she calls an "antiquated Family Law system, that encourages parental alienation and unreasonable child support guidelines.

"Culture conditions also lead us to believe that fathers are lesser parents," says Kundert.  "They're often portrayed as bumbling idiots and losers in movies and TV shows."

Kundert hopes that today's walk will bring awareness to father's rghts, "to equal parenting, to try to bring and end to parental alienation to domestic violence against men.  We see a lot of movements for women's rights, but we don't see much for father's rights.  It's time for men to stop suffering in silence."

The hope is, according to Kundert, that the walks will become regular events.  "We hope to go monthly, and if not monthly, then quarterly.  We want to get people thinking and to start a dialogue.

The marchers today gathered in front of Airdrie City Hall and walked to Nose Creek Park.
