Temperatures may have climbed to 33 degrees on Friday, but that didn't stop people from hitting the Stampede Grounds.

The 2017 edition of the 'Greatest Outdoor Show On Earth', officially kicked off with thousands flocking the the event by car, bus train, and even by foot.

The usual luster of the Stampede environment was evident with the majority of spectators dressed in their best western wear, heading to the Grandstand, the Western Events Centre, the Midway and so much more.

Large crowds on the opening day is quite the spectacle for Stampede officials who saw attendance numbers drop last year as a result of stormy weather through most of the 10 day exhibition.

With forecasts calling for more sunny and hot weather, thousands more visitors could be flocking to Stampede from Calgary, Airdrie and beyond.
