The City Of Airdrie is hoping you will help them by sharing your opinion on what you want to see in the downtown core.

In an effort to reconnect with residents and businesses regarding the revitalization of downtown, the City will be hosting interactive public engagement events from February until April.

The first is an open house that will be held Wednesday, February 20th from 6-8 p.m in Council Chambers at City Hall.

Karl Mielke, a Planner with the City of Airdrie says they are hoping for a big turn out.

" The open house is going to be reviewing the downtown vision data that we collected over the first couple months of 2017, during that time we reached out to a variety of people in the public to get their opinion on the current state of downtown."

During the meeting, the City would like to hear from the public on their opinion and potentially sign up members of the public to help consult the City on the decisions they make in regards to the downtown core.

"At this point in the open house, we are going to be signing people up in participation for a design exercise, the next stage of the public engagement will be looking at the development of the downtown core such as building heights, the relationship between retails, commercial and residential uses and where they should go"

The City is looking for a variety of people to participate in this part and Mielke says they would like people with a variety of experiences and views on the downtown core.

"We are looking for a wide variety of people for this a lot of people from a lot of different backgrounds, it would certainly help to have people from the development industry, people who run businesses and those that run community groups."
