If you were still thinking about being a part of the Canada Day Parade in Airdrie, you've thought too long.

Lynn Kehoe, committee member and treasurer with the Airdrie Parade and Fireworks committee says they have sold out all 110 registrations for this year's parade celebrating Canada 150.  "This is the earliest we've sold out.  Everybody is really excited for the 150 celebration this year."

Kehoe says the theme of this year's parade is 'Past, Present and Future.'  "Kind of pick an era in the last 150 years and decorate accordingly," she says.  "This year we are really being sticky on the parade floats.  They have to be decorated in theme this year, so the vast majority will be floats, there will maybe be a few vehicles but they must be pre-approved and of course decorated to the theme of the 150."

The parade this year will follow the same route as previous years and will start at 10:00 am.  The festivities at Chinook Winds Park start at 3:00 pm and go until 11:00 pm.  The fireworks will start at dusk and Kehoe says spectators are in for a special treat.

"It will be very unique again this year too.  The fireworks spectacular that we've had in previous years has a whole Canada 150 theme organized, so that will be pretty exciting to see as well, and the fireworks will be longer, they'll be 25 minutes this year."

Kehoe believes the excitement of Canada's 150th birthday will make the celebration special this year.  "At Chinook Winds Park there will be rock climbing, there's dunk tanks again, there's hockey going on, there's monster trucks again, it's just amazing this year, we've got a ton going on."

Should you still want to try to put an entry in the parade, Kehoe says you could put your name on the waiting list, but good luck.  "We've actually got quite a few on the waiting list as well."
